Diverse: Issues In Higher Education
IGNITE’s Gen Z College Students’ Voting and Political Engagement Report 2024 shows increased political engagement among college students, driven by concerns like job security, economy, mental health, and reproductive rights. The report surveyed 1,004 students aged 18-25 across 48 states and Washington, D.C., revealing that 75% intend to vote in the 2024 presidential election. Campus organizers are addressing voting challenges like unfamiliarity with polling locations or mail-in ballots. The report also shows differences in voting priorities between genders and a preference for policies over partisan politics. IGNITE aims to continue engaging Gen Z voters post-election.
