Byron Donalds expresses nostalgia for the Jim Crow era, when ‘the Black family was together’

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) claimed Black families were better during racial segregation than under President Biden, criticizing policies that made Black Americans dependent on government support. He suggested Biden’s administration continues these policies. Donalds also argued for defined gender roles, stating men are created to be conquerors and hunters. His comments, made at a Black GOP outreach event, were criticized by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Biden campaign officials. Donalds appeared at the event with Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) and former NBC Sports broadcaster Michele Tafoya.
