Massachusetts’ free community college program for nontraditional students, MassReconnect, has nearly doubled enrollment among eligible individuals aged 25 and older. The initiative covers tuition and fees after other forms of aid have been applied and has led to an increase in completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The program has distributed grants to over 4,500 people and has prompted discussions about expanding the initiative to include universal free community college for all residents.
