Just 36% of adults think higher education in the U.S. is “fine how it is,” down 5 percentage points from last year. Both Republicans and Democrats agree that cost is the biggest factor preventing people from attending college. Confidence in higher education is falling, but 75% of adults still believe it provides a good return on investment.
