Pew: Almost half of adults say the importance of a college degree has declined

Only 25% of adults consider a four-year degree very important for a well-paid job, with 40% saying it’s not important. 49% believe a degree is less important now than two decades ago. 57% of 18- to 30-year-olds without a college diploma think a degree is a good value, down from 60% in 2022. 47% say a degree is worth the cost only without loans, and 29% say it’s not worth it at all. Only 32% of college graduates think it’s worth going into debt for college.
