Students Feel Good About Their College Readiness. These Charts Tell a Different Story

Despite college seen as key to financial prosperity, less than 40% of US adults hold a degree. High school students’ college readiness is questioned due to grade inflation, declining standardized test scores, and grade grubbing. An ACT survey found 85% of students felt prepared for college, yet ACT scores are at a 30-year low. Teachers report students often argue for better grades, with 82% admitting to grade changes. Despite rising GPAs, ACT scores continue to fall.
