Universities and colleges search for ways to reverse the decline in the ranks of male students

The University of Vermont (UVM) held a startup pitch competition to attract more male students, as part of a wider strategy to address the declining number of men in college. The competition attracted entries from across the US and seven other countries. The initiative is one of many aimed at increasing male enrollment, which has dropped by over 157,000 in the last five years. The proportion of male college students is now at a record low of 41%. UVM and other universities are exploring various strategies to attract more male students, including targeted marketing and mentorship programs.
