When FAFSA Completion Takes a Village

 

New York City’s FAFSA completion rates have dropped by 45% due to form issues and delays. Kristen Harris, executive director of college and career planning for NYC Public Schools, is leveraging resources like public colleges, advocacy groups, and the public library system to help students complete the form. The City University of New York is also providing financial aid officers and student counselors to assist high schools. Despite these efforts, up to 16% of the 7 million forms submitted will need corrections.
