Politics Climate is Increasingly a Factor in College Selection

A new report by Echo Delta found that politics play a role in college selection for prospective students. The study, based on a survey of over 1,000 high school juniors and seniors, revealed that political concerns account for about 20% of the decision-making process, with one in four students expressing concerns about attending college in a specific state based on its politics. The report also highlighted students’ fears of harassment, not belonging, and personal safety when considering colleges in states with differing political climates. Additionally, the study found that most students’ political views align with their parents’, and a majority of college-bound high school students support free speech on campus and believe colleges should remain neutral on political issues….
