FAFSA ‘train wreck’ rollout leaves students unsure of college. What went wrong?

The new FAFSA application, meant to simplify the process of securing government financial aid for college, has instead caused delays, glitches, and confusion, leaving many students unsure about enrolling in college. This has serious consequences for those who need financial aid the most. The revamp has led to fewer students applying for aid, which means fewer students will attend college in the fall. The new application, while eventually easier, has created hurdles for applicants, especially those from non-traditional homes. It has also caused equity issues for some students.
